Ellen Vogel is a visual artist and teacher that works in mixed-media sculpture and painting.

She writes of her work: “My making is fueled by a longing to lean closer into the mystery of things. The materials I choose take on emotional qualities. Transparency, veiling, cracks, openings and texture are some of the the ways I ponder physicality and impermanence; all pervaded by the immensity of consciousness available to us. Entanglement, size, shape, weight, placement and the tactile become the language of experience. Perception is turned inward. The process is an intuitive but physical dialogue with what lies just below the surface of everyday life.”

Vogel’s work has been shown in the US, including California, Washington, and New Jersey. She is a member of Gallery Route One in Point Reyes, California.

She lives and works in San Francisco, California.
