Mikey Kelly is a contemporary artist known for his abstract paintings, drawings, and metal sculptures. His artwork explores the use of cryptography, language, and mathematics to design neurally and retinally challenging geometric abstractions. His interest in systems, patterns, color theory, and visual perception are evident in his work.

He writes: “My process is intuitive. I try to let go of the ego and to allow the muse or raptus take hold and guide my process, leading me into new realms and possibilities that I would never find on my own. Painting for me has always been an automatic endeavor. I create systems that allow for detachment, to free myself from preconceived outcomes and to become essentially a human printer. With my sewn work, I allow myself to just make. Self-taught and working without a plan I let the process and moment guide the work, the design and outcome. Is it about the line or the space in between?”

Kelly’s artwork has been shown nationally in California, Michigan, New York, and Florida, and is included in several public and corporate collections.

Kelly is living and working in Napa, California.
