Virginia Shepley Riccio is a painter. She says of her work: “I am drawn to a visual exploration of the laws of nature, the spiritual and the supernatural. Through a meditative process of drawing, my works expand on the possibilities and the intersections between geometric space and line. In my vision, I strive to reconcile fundamental opposites found in the physical world. Inspired by Eastern philosophies, I am continuously exploring unity and duality on paper as a metaphor for the human struggle to find a place of balance.”

Drawing from the practice of psychic automatism, Shepley Riccio’s forms and representational motifs reconcile the dualities of life. She uses line drawing and biomorphic forms as a visual representation of fundamental spiritual ideas, her work explores the connections and borderlines between physical reality and the invisible.

Shepley Riccio received her MFA in Painting from John F. Kennedy University’s Arts and Consciousness program in Berkeley, California. Her work has been exhibited in solo shows in galleries in California and North Carolina. Her drawings and paintings are in private collections all over the world.

Shepley Riccio lives and works on a farm in North Carolina.
