Patrick Keesey is an artist who paints, draws, and makes furniture. He writes: “Drawing and painting are an exploration. The process is like taking a path to an unknown destination. The effort and work come first. I try to understand my relationship to it later after I’ve done some walking. I understand my journey by looking and contemplating what I've done later. By looking, I try to determine why I have been inclined to do it. This puts the words after the action. I have found recently that I am less inclined toward words at all. I have become more comfortable with the meaning of a mark, a response to life that has it's own unique meaning, a mark or a moment that is entirely about that moment, rather than a pattern of words that I already know. Words are only an explanation. They are not the thing itself. Simple drawing: looking, seeing, marking, and wondering, is where art exists for me. Drawing, painting, and looking inform understanding and acceptance of the chaotic order of the natural world, and help offset the limitations of the learned mind.”

Keesey’s artwork has been shown in France and Germany, and throughout the US, including California, Texas, Florida, and New York.

Keesey lives and works Marfa, Texas.
